Batman Live - World Arena Tour

"Batman Live" was an interesting but also a challenging project in that it didn't easily fit into any particular genre. It was theatrical but it wasn't theatre; it was musical but if had no songs; it was rock-and-roll but there were no performers. In many ways it was closer in character to a film and this gave us a clue as to how to approach the design. Es Devlin's stage set and Sam Pattinson's video material made a perfect background on which to paint a series of light pictures that placed us in the various physical environments in which the action takes place.
