Along with Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Queen and Brian Wilson, the gardens at Buckingham Palace also played a role in the success of the evening. The stands of mature trees that formed the background of the stage were delicately illuminated and formed a living backdrop through the see-through window at the rear of the stage.
